Kathy's Philosophy
As an educator, my goal is to provide expectant couples with complete, unbiased
information. This knowledge will empower couples to make informed choices during
their pregnancy, labour & birth. To me, the birth of a baby is a normal, natural life event.
As women, we are designed to reproduce, grow and deliver our babies. Not only do I
teach about what to expect and how to prepare physically, but also what to expect and
how to prepare mentally. And actually, 90% of labour is mental.
Trust your body....Trust your baby.....Trust birth.
The Six Care Practices That Promote Safe, Healthy Birth
Lamaze's six recommended care practices are a guide for creating a birth environment
that lets you tap into your innate birth wisdom and give birth simply and easily.
Regardless of your baby's size, your labour's length and complexity, or your confidence
level, these care practices will help you keep your labour and birth as normal as possible.
(Click on each of the six care practices below for more information)
1. Let labour begin on its own.
2. Walk, move around and change positions throughout labour.
3. Bring a loved one, friend or doula for continuous support.
4. Avoid interventions that are not medically necessary.
5. Avoid giving birth on the back and follow the body's urges to push.
6. Keep mother and baby together. It is best for mother, baby and breastfeeding.
