How to use Windi

1. Rub the child´s stomach gently by hand movement from the sides and from above gently downwards to move the gas towards the intestinal opening. Rub one side of the body at a time. Repeat three times on each side.


2. Lift the child’s legs towards the head and gently insert the catheter in the child’s rectum (like a thermometer). Use oil on the catheter to facilitate the insertion. You usually hear a sound when the gas comes out. Occasionally there is a little bit of contents of the bowels coming out with the gas.
   
   
   
   Normally it should only take a few seconds to get the desired effect. If not, repeat with the massage and try again. Sometimes you need to repeat several times before it works. It is safe to reuse the Windi if the treatment is repeated multiple times.
   
   
   
   Never allow the catheter to remain in the child´s rectum!


3. Make it a habit to discard the Windi catheter after you have finished the procedure. Reuse of the same catheter after a period of time may pose a risk of infection. You should not use Windi more than three times per day on your child, because heavy use can prevent the child’s natural intestinal reflexes.
